The DEADLINE for making an application/renewal application for the Transient Rental Program is May 30, 2026. If you have not completed your application/renewal by the deadline, you will not be permitted to operate a Short Term Rental on the Island.
Requirements for RENEWAL Application are:
• Updated application with any changes of addresses, phone numbers,
emails or contacts.
• $600.00 annual fee payment
• Copy of Updated Insurance policy (showing at least $300,000.00
personal liability)
Requirements of NEW Application are:
• Completing the registration form, paying the $600.00 yearly fee.
• Getting a certified Home Inspection.
• Getting a Septic Inspection Completed (not just a pump out receipt).
(The cost of both the Inspections are paid by the applicant to the
service providers.)
• Providing the necessary insurance coverage (at least $300,000.00
Personal Liability)
• Registering with Erie County for Lodging Tax Compliance.

Applicants are advised to review the Village Ordinance 2024-0-23 and Amendment requirements that affect Transient Rental operations. The Village Council deems it necessary to regulate and ensure the peace, health, safety and wellness of the public including the transient guests and neighboring property owners or occupants of any rental property.
Village Council has set standards that address public safety issues while providing a revenue source to offset costs related to public safety and zoning enforcement effort.
